Livonia, Mich. (April 28, 2006) – The Roush Automotive Collection, located at Roush Enterprises headquarters in Livonia, Mich., captures the history and essence of Roush Enterprises and Roush Racing. This summer fans and history buffs alike will have the opportunity to view the 30,000 sq. ft. private facility through a series of special events. The “Open-House Cruise-in” events will take place throughout the summer beginning Wednesday, May 3 with a garage sale from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and a cruise-in event from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to share with family, friends, our community and fans from near and far a place that provides a view into the legacy of our innovative and dynamic company,” said Susan McClenaghan, Roush Collection Curator and Program Manager. “We will have a number of interactive activities, free to the public, that will offer participants the excitement of competition as it relates to the many programs within our company. My goal is to have a facility that people can come away from with experiences that are exciting and truly unique.”
Housed within the collection is a wide variety of displays, multi-media exhibits, memorabilia and over 110 vehicles dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of Roush Enterprises. Included in the collection are race cars, trophies, photographs and equipment outlining over 40 years of motor sports achievements. The collection also contains plenty of educational exhibits highlighting Roush as a supplier of technological services to the automotive industry, aviation industry and other manufactured goods businesses.
“It has been a great pleasure to stand by and watch Susan and her staff unearth, restore and preserve so much of the hardware, apparel and memorabilia associated with our time in racing and our generation of Detroit- based automotive suppliers,” said Jack Roush, owner Roush Enterprises and Roush Racing. “I hope that those who are able to attend one of our events this summer will leave feeling enriched by the experience, and delighting in sharing in the pride that all who are part of our company share with each other every day.”
From May to September the facility will open its doors to the public with events being held on May 3, June 15, July 26, August 17 and September 13 (all events begin at 5:00 p.m.). On Thursday, June 15 Roush Racing drivers along with Jack Roush himself will make a special appearance at the facility signing a limited amount of autographs for fans. Other special activities throughout the summer include a Roush engine build demonstration, P-51 Rolls Royce hot-test stand run, race car simulator’s and live 50′s band.
The Roush Automotive Collection is available to tour throughout the year by appointment and can also be booked for special events, meetings or other functions. From meticulously restored classics to highly sophisticated prototypes and racing machines, guests will find themselves in an environment rich with the heritage of Roush as a technological innovator and proven competitor.
