Located in Willows, Calif., Thunderhill is the type of course that throws a little of everything at a driver – elevation changes, off-camber turns, and even a mini version of the “Corkscrew” turn that the track has named “The Cyclone.”
There were a lot of Mustangs present at the ROUSH® Day, and they were of all types – from the ROUSH® 427R Mustang on the new 2010 chassis as well as a 2007 model, some ’60 and ’70 era ‘Stangs, and everything in between. These cars diced it out on the track with the typical Porsche’s, BMW’s, Corvettes and other cars that you would anticipate at a Hooked on Driving event. In most cases, those vehicles saw a lot of the back bumper of the 2010 ROUSH® 427R.
After taking some students around the track in the new ROUSH® Mustang, one HOD instructor climbed from the driver’s seat very excited and exclaimed, “This car handles much better than my Corvette. It does exactly what you want it to do and is very predictable. It performs and responds.”
Those who were able to experience hot laps in the car all came away impressed with the speed, handling, and braking of the new 2010 ROUSH® 427R. There were perhaps 20 people or more that had a passenger seat experience that they soon won’t forget.
Those interested in participating in a “ROUSH® Day with the Hooked on Driving program have one more opportunity this season. New to the schedule is a Florida dateas we will be at Sebring International Raceway on August 30. This is your opportunity to drive on one of the most famous racetracks in the world, and really get a feel for the speed and braking performance like no other.
