JOLIET, Ill. - ROUSH® helped inaugurate the Great Lakes chapter of the Hooked on Driving school today at the North Course of the Autobahn Country Club, and despite weather that dampened (pun intended) the early festivities, the day turned out beautiful and the track dry and quick. This was the very first HOD event in the Midwest region.
As always, there was a wide variety of vehicles represented on the track, including Ferrari, Ford GT, Cadillac, Mazda and a 2010 ROUSH® 427R™ Mustang that caused people to turn and look when the engine growled to life.
The track was damp from the rain during the early sessions, but this only enhanced the students car control and learning. Later, as the day dried out the speeds increased and the participant’s confidence did as well, learning both from the instructors riding shotgun and the classroom settings. By the end of the day, the Hooked on Driving students were worn out from the amount of track time, but basking in the new confidence obtained behind the wheel and eager to attend a future event.
A ROUSH® representative was on hand to answer questions about the new 427R™ Mustang. There was a drawing held for the participants to win a number of prizes, including a case of ROUSH® Motor Oil, as well as several shirts and caps autographed by Jack Roush, Greg Biffle, Jamie McMurray, David Ragan and Colin Braun.
If you want to have fun and learn how to maximize your ROUSH® with fellow enthusiasts in a safe and controlled environment there are two more special ROUSH® events at the Hooked on Driving program.
June 26 will see a return to Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, Calif. This is a very technical track with lots of turns, elevation changes, and high-speed straights that will test your nerves and skills. Extremely fun, especially going through Turn 5 which is known as the "Cyclone" and in many ways is like a mini-version of the legendary "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca.
New to the schedule is a Florida date. ROUSH® and Hooked on Driving will be at Sebring International Raceway on August 30. This is your opportunity to drive on one of the most famous racetracks in the world, and really get a feel for the speed and braking performance like no other.
