Crazy Day at ROUSH

JuneMuseum377x283 Thursday was a crazy time around ROUSH® World Headquarters. As is typical, on the Thursday before the NASCAR races at Michigan International Speedway the ROUSH® Automotive Collection hosts an Open House; this leads to a variety of additional activities around our Livonia campus.

There was a pair of tours through the ROUSH® Performance Vehicle Assembly area. After arriving via a shuttle bus the people were able to head into Building 50 and see how a Ford Mustang GT is transformed into a ROUSH® Mustang. There were a variety of vehicles on the assembly line, both 2010 and 2011 models so it was a rare treat to see the different engines side-by-side.

Additionally, the tour groups were able to visit the high-tech ROUSHcharger® Assembly Lab and see first-hand the number of checks and verifications that our supercharger line must pass before being put on a vehicle (or shipped to a customer). The final step is a dyno run to ensure that the ROUSHcharger® is functioning within established parameters.

The ROUSH® Road Crew met in the afternoon in the Building 50 parking lot and caravanned over to the Museum for the Open House. It was an exciting to see the cars in procession down Plymouth Road, and many heads were turned as the group made their way. Once at the Museum, the group was parked at the front and center for the NASCAR fans to ogle the beautiful cars.

The weather was perfect – sunny and 77 degrees – so there were dozens of cars in the parking lot and up-and-down Market Street. It was a great sight to see so many classic and hot rods shining in the afternoon sun.

JuneMuseum377x283-2 Matt Kenseth and David Ragan were on hand to autograph a variety of items set before them – hats, diecast cars, hero cards, race tires. There were several thousand people in line and the Roush Fenway Racing drivers should be in plenty of photos from the event.

Jack Roush was also on hand, though due to a Ford function he showed up a bit later than his drivers. The “Cat in the Hat” signed hundreds of autographs and later went outside to sign cars.

It was a great, but crazy day at ROUSH. If you missed it, we’ll do it again on Thursday, August 12. Watch for a photo gallery to be posted shortly.
