The ROUSH® Road Crew™ participated in the 3rd Annual Mustang show on the grounds surrounding the Volo Auto Museum on Saturday, August 7 and walked away with a pair of trophies, along with many more great memories. This was our first event in the Chicago area.
There were around a dozen RRC member Mustangs in attendance, with several models represented including a P-51A®, Trak Pak™ (purchased just a week earlier), 427R®, Stage 3 ™, a pair of BlackJack® Mustangs, and a 2011 Stage 2™ which allowed many spectators to see the new Ford 5.0L engine for the first time (and hear the new ROUSH® exhaust in action).
Member Drew won a trophy for the best ROUSH® Mustang as voted on by the other RRC members in attendance, and Ken was awarded a trophy for the owner of the Volo Auto Museum’s favorite car in the show. He has a gorgeous 2007 Torch Red 427R® with white stripes. All the ROUSH® Mustangs were parked together in a separate section which drew a number of spectators who asked questions about the different models and modifications.
Many of the RRC members took advantage of the free opportunity to walk through the different showrooms of the Volo Auto Museum which were bursting with classic cars, muscle cars, and many of the vehicles seen in Hollywood movie and television shows. There was even a military section with vehicles and artifacts ranging from the Civil War through the current conflicts.
The event actually began on Friday evening with a club dinner at Flatlander’s restaurant. The club dined in a private room which allowed a quiet setting to get to know each other and hear some great tales; we were also treated to a presentation on performance driving (for the street and the track) by Rob Schemerhorn who runs the Great Lakes Region Hooked on Driving program.
The members had so much fun that they are already looking forward to doing this event again in 2011.
