The ROUSH Performance Road Racing Team Heads To Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

ROUSH 61 RacingThis Weekend the Grand-Am Continental Tire Series will be racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  As always, the CTSCC series will deliver an action-packed weekend of racing on the 11-turn 2.238 mile road course built on the side of a mountain with one of the most iconic corners in the world, the infamous “Corkscrew”.

The ROUSH Performance team will field 3 cars this weekend with Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson in the No. 61 Gary Yeomans/USANA Health Sciences Ford Boss 302R, Shelby Blackstock and Joey Atterbury in the No. 51 Starstruck Motorsports Ford Boss 302R, and David Mundy and Tony Rivera driving the No. 21 Ford Boss 302R.

ROUSH 51 Mustang“This is one of my favorite racetracks that I look forward to all year” said Johnson. “I would consider this to be my home track, having coached at Skip Barber for many years here and living about 5 hours south.  The track is very technical with a lot of little nuances that are key to going fast there.  The starts of the race are always exciting with 70+ cars barreling down into Turn 2 which is a slow 40mph hairpin and with the record 2012 has had, I’m sure it will not disappoint this year”

"I'm looking forward to getting back to Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca” said Jack Roush Jr.  “It's a challenging course to drive.  We were fast there last year, and I think that we should run well there again.  As a team, we have yet to win a race at that track.  So you can bet that we're going for a win there this year."

21 ROUSH Mustang in Pits“Laguna Seca is one of the first tracks I’ve driven on” said Blackstock, who will be missing the promoter test day due to testing at VIR in his F2000 which he will be racing there later this month.  “I took some Skip Barber courses there and I really like the track.  I’m looking forward to going back this year in our new Boss 302R”.

“Laguna Seca is a great track for me” said Atterbury.  “I was able to qualify in the top 3 last year and look to repeat that performance again this year in the No. 51 Roush Performance StarStruck Ford Boss 302R Mustang.”

Sponsors of the No. 61 Mustang include ROUSH Performance, Gary Yeomans Ford Lincoln, USANA Health Sciences, Kooks Custom Headers, BMRS, Mechanix Wear, Strategic Brand Solutions, PWRGoPro, and Performance Friction. The No. 51 Mustang is sponsored by Starstruck.
