If you’ve seen the new 2015 ROUSH Mustang Stage 3’s power plant, you may have noticed that the supercharger has undergone a pretty major appearance change. Where once the ROUSH name existed alone atop the flawless black finish, there are now two names – ROUSH and Ford Racing. So, what does this mean exactly?
Think about it: Ford built the 2015 Mustang. To ensure that our supercharger complimented the 2015 Mustang’s 5.0 engine in the most efficient manner, who better to work with than the people who know it best – who better than Ford Racing? The collaboration came complete with hours upon hours of research and testing, and between the two brilliant teams totally dedicated to enhancing the 5.0 in the best possible way, magic happened.
This is obviously not the only partnership between ROUSH and Ford – think NASCAR, IMSA (Roush Yates), and World Challenge (Jack Roush Jr. pilots a Boss 302S) – but it is definitely the newest.
The co-developed result is the industry-leading calibrated supercharger system. The new design features a completely new ROUSH and Ford Racing-calibrated Powertrain Control Module and software. Seeing as only Ford can create the new software needed for this type of undertaking, the process went beyond simply changing the calibration, but the system that it works with, creating new calibration strategies specific to a supercharged engine. The result is completely exclusive to the ROUSH/Ford Racing R2300 TVS supercharger.
The Ford facilities used in the development of the supercharger are equipped for dyno testing and the abilities to change pressure and temperature. The 2015 ROUSH supercharger underwent hundreds of hours of dyno and on-track testing, along with thousands of street miles, to guarantee that it is superior to any other kit on the market, and is designed to OE levels, as Roush Industries is a major supplier to Ford engineering.
An incredible 600+ horsepower packed into a 2015 Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 is a result of the installation of this incredible supercharger. Our test subject, an otherwise bone stock 5.0, put down exactly 627 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels on our dyno (keep in mind that individual results may vary, and different dynos very often tend to produce different power numbers).
The ROUSH/Ford Racing Mustang Phase 1 Calibrated Supercharger Kit is part of the Twin Vortices Series, or TVS, line of superchargers that have been developed, used, and proven to perform in ROUSH-built Ford Mustangs for years.
