When the 2015 ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang was unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas in November to a crowd of excited automotive enthusiasts, we couldn’t wait to get the ball rolling and start cranking them out to be distributed across the United States. The time has come, and you can now place your order and make one of these state-of-the-art muscle cars your very own.
Truth is, there is nothing quite as intense as the raw power of a 5.0L V8 engine, but when you add ROUSH Performance’s new 2015 2.3L TVS supercharger to the mix, you’ve got a whole new beast on your hands. The pungent combination makes for a staggering power output of more than 630 horsepower – a power per liter rating that no other competitive OE American muscle car can compete with (not even a certain hellacious feline).
There is no way to make all of those horses move quietly, but would you really want them to? You’ll hear them rumbling through the ROUSH Quad-Tip Exhaust system, prepped for the state-of-the-art ROUSH Active Performance Exhaust System (optional). The Active system is controlled through a mobile application and allows the driver to adjust tone and volume of exhaust sounds effortlessly with just a few taps on a phone screen.
Ford supplies each 2015 Mustang with its new fully independent rear suspension, so we stepped it up a notch with our standard single-adjustable coilover suspension to keep the ROUSH Stage 3 glued firmly to the road. A three-way adjustable coilover suspension is optional for those who demand reinforcement in the twists and turns.
Three different 20-inch wheels are available on the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang including standard Quicksilver, polished, or forged, each wrapped in Ultra High Performance Cooper RS3 tires.
With a single glance at the new RS3, the seamless beauty is noticeably obvious, but ROUSH didn’t stop at “beautiful”. Many of the styling cues you will find adorning the RS3 are functional and contribute to airflow and downforce properties to feed the air hungry power plant and intercooler and keep the tires glued to the pavement: the high-flow upper grille and lower opening, ROUSH front splitter, rear deck spoiler, and valance.
Technology is far from lost on the all-new ROUSH Stage 3. Ford provided us with a great platform complete with incredible technology like Track Apps, Launch Control, and Line Lock, so we stepped it up a notch. Available on the RS3 is the aforementioned optional Active Exhaust as well as an optional Front Curb Avoidance System. The latter alerts you to the presence of curbs or those annoying parking blocks that could otherwise damage the underside of your Front Chin Splitter. You know that sickening grinding noise you hear when you pull into a spot just a bit too enthusiastically? You’ll never have to hear it again.
